Heglig resumes oil flow

According to statements from oil officials in Khartoum, oil is once again pumping at the Heglig oilfield. The country’s petroleum minister, Awad Al Jaz, said that repairs to the facilities had been made and the field was now producing oil.

"This oilfield was producing 55,000 bpd," Al Jaz said at the oilfield, accompanied by oil engineers and military officers as he opened the valves, according to a Reuters article. "Now as we said ... we plan to produce more than that, besides the production of other oilfields which will follow.”

The oil that began flowing on the evening of March 30 was sent to the refinery in Khartoum, Al Jaz said.
