The government of the republic of South Sudan says it is reviewing contracts for oil operating companies to avoid future damages to people and the environment.
Speaking to SRS on Thursday, the undersecretary in the Ministry of Energy, David Loro explained why it is important to review the current oil contracts.
[David Loro]: “We have some communities which were affected negatively by the oil operations, pollution and environmental aspects were not taken care of. This time we are putting things right, the contracts are being reviewed. And in the review, they must come up with a regulation because this time if someone does not follow the correct way he should be punished. We do not want such things to happen again. So the committee appointed to review the draft definitely they when they finish they will be put in line with the government plan”.
That was the undersecretary in the Ministry of Mining and Energy, David Loro speaking to SRS in Juba on Thursday.
