Sudan’s Block B may see some action from France’s Total in the next few months. According to Sudan’s Petroleum Ministry Total should begin exploring the block by April, following Qatar Petroleum’s (QP) addition to the partner line up. Total remains the major shareholder.
Total has not yet begun work on Block B in the swampy southern Jonglei state despite holding the concession since the 1980s. Block B did see some action a few years back when the Government of South Sudan granted White Nile access to the block. The access was later revoked, but not before White Nile was able to complete some work on was then its license area.
