Under the auspices of the Government of South Sudan (GoSS), the Akon Refinery Company Ltd. (ARC), a joint venture between Nile PetroleumCorp. (NILEPET) and Eyat Oilfield Services Co. Ltd., has released a tender for a potential investor in a planned refinery in South Sudan.
In an advertisement in Petroleum Africa magazine’s May 2010 issue, the JV says it is calling for tenders on a planned 50,000 bpd grass-roots refinery which is expected to cost an estimated $1.8 billion to construct.
A feasibility study was carried out in 2009 by ARC’s engineering consultant for the project. “APS Engineering Company Roma S.p.A. had also been appointed to be the consultancy engineering company for ARC for the purpose of tender and the whole implementation of the project.
The invitation to tender said that interested bidders may obtain further information about the project from ARC web-site.
