CNPC Dives into Sudan’s Red Sea
A CNPC-led consortium announced that it has spud a wildcat well in Sudan’s Block 15 located offshore in the Red Sea.
The Tokar-1 well is located in water depths of 38-50 meters 130 km southeast of Port Sudan.
The well’s planned total depth is 3,700 meters. Two wells are expected to be drilled on the block over the next six months.
This is the first offshore well to be spud in Block 15 by the consortium made up of CNPC, Malaysia’s state oil firm Petronas, Sudan’s state oil concern Sudapet, Nigeria’s Express Petroleum, and Sudanese firm High Tech Group.
