Sudan expects a 10% drop in oil productivity by 2019
The oil productivity in Sudan is expected to drop by 10% a decade from now, the energy minister said this week.
Al-Zebeir Ahmed Al-Hassan made the remarks at the Sudanese national assembly at discussions over the Abyei referendum law stressing that oil is a non-renewable resource.
The Sudanese official also expressed surprise over what he described as exaggeration when speaking about oil reserves in the Abyei region. The area was demarcated this summer with the major oil fields going to the North.
Sudan produces producing about 500,000 barrels a day of oil and expects to maintain this level of output next year.
Last week Al- Hassan said that his government is getting ready to produce oil in Darfur, White Nile and Red Sea in addition to gas projects in Al-Dandar and Al-Souki.
