Nov 3, 2006 (KHARTOUM) — The total oil revenue of southern Sudan amounted 865 millions US dollars in September 2006, posting a slight month-on-month increase from 856 millions US dollars, the Khartoum based al-Ray al-Aam reported Thursday.

Unity State and southern Kordofan, accounted for547 millions US dollars of the total, compared to 538 millions US dollars. Their contribution was 353 millions US dollars and 194 millions US dollars, respectively.

September’s allocation for the southern Sudanese government totaled 2.148 billions US dollars, comprising the above oil revenue, 688 millions US dollars direct cash payment, and 595 millions US dollars withdrawals from the national oil revenue stabilisation account.

Unity State and southern Korfofan allocations accounted for 1.491 billion US dollars of the total.

According to the national wealth sharing pact, signed in 7 January 2004 by Sudanese Government and Sudan People’s Liberation Movement, at least 2.0 pct of the oil revenue is allocated to the oil-producing states in proportion to their output.

After the payment to the Oil Revenue Stabilization Account and to the oil producing states/regions, fifty percent (50%) of net oil revenue derived from oil producing wells in Southern Sudan shall be allocated to the Government of Southern Sudan as of the beginning of the Pre-Interim Period and the remaining fifty percent (50%) to the National Government and states in northern Sudan.
