Sterlite Optical bags ONGC Videsh order

Sterlite Optical Technologies Ltd, manufacturer of Optical Fibers and Telecom Cables today has bagged a contract valued at Rs 2.5 crore to provide optical fiber and telecom cables for ONGC Videsh in Sudan.

 

According to a company release, the contract awarded to Sterlite by Dodsal Pte Ltd, is part of an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) of a multi-product pipeline project being executed by Dodsal for ONGC Videsh Limited (OVL).

 

The fiber optic cables are to be laid from Khartoum Refinery at Al Rawyan to the receipt terminal of Sudan Petroleum Pipeline Company (SPPC) at Port Sudan and the optical communication shall be through this fiber optic cable.

 

The Sudan Pipeline Project envisages laying of a 12-inch diameter pipeline from Khartoum Refinery to Port Sudan for evacuation of petro-products from Khartoum Refinery; the capacity of which is being upgraded by Sudan.

 

The pipeline system is designed for a throughput of 0.826 million tonne per annum in phase I and 2.54 million tonnes per annum in phase II, of gas oil and gasoline.

 

The total length of the pipeline is 741 km.

 

Dodsal is owned by the Kilachand group of Companies that has its headquarters located at Dubai.
